A MESSAGE FROM CARRIE: Hi There! My name is Carrie. I am an EMDR Trained Psychotherapist specializing in empowering young women in their 20’s & early 30’s (ages 18-30) to recover from complex trauma & eating disorders &/or substance use, anxiety disorders, perfectionism, people pleasing, & low self-esteem. I also help young women learn healthy habits to manage chronic stress and optimize their health. On a personal note, I’m a single mom of 3 kiddos and have a love/hate relationship with running and lifting heavy things. I sometimes use humor, as well as the occasional gummi bear, to cope with stress.
You feel like life is hard.
Being a young woman can feel hard (because it is)! You’re so highly attuned to the expectations & needs of others it’s easy to lose sight of your own. You struggle with self-doubt, worries, & can never seem to settle your mind. From the time you were a little girl, you’ve felt responsible for the happiness of those around you. You’re a fixer, a rescuer, a caretaker. You tend to everyone except yourself. Despite being independent & resilient, you feel confused, overwhelmed, & stressed. You’ve battled various challenges throughout life such as addiction, unhealthy relationships, and past traumatic experiences, but feel stuck in the progress you’ve made. You wonder if you’ll always feel this way.
You’ve tried to change.
You tried therapy before, but had difficulty opening up. You didn’t feel ready to tackle such upsetting things. It sometimes felt like one more task to be done on your list of “to dos”. Even when you were able to find time, you struggled to be fully present in sessions as you sat thinking about all you needed to get done. You gradually stopped going, if it was given any chance at all, and it wasn’t long until you found yourself searching once again for the inner peace, self-acceptance, and joy felt to be missing in your life. You wonder if you’ll ever find it.
You won’t always feel this way. There is hope.
Evolution is possible. You can become a healthier, more present woman who is at peace with herself. I will be right there with you as you learn to love and care for yourself the way you do others.
Fierce self-love and empowered peace can be yours. It is an honor and privilege to be part of your healing journey.
