About Me
Humorous. Empowering. Warm. These are the 3 words I would use to describe Carrie’s style.
I normally laugh at least once during a session with Carrie. I also leave feeling uplifted in some way that helps me feel encouraged and able to better tackle my day.
She has this way of asking the most insightful questions that allows me to think about things in ways I had not considered. She is genuine and really cares.
Hi There! My name is Carrie.
I am an EMDR Trained Psychotherapist specializing in empowering young women in their late teens, 20’s & 30’s to recover from complex trauma & eating disorders &/or substance use, anxiety disorders, perfectionism, people pleasing, self-esteem, and learning healthy habits to manage chronic stress. On a personal note, I’m a single mom of 3 kiddos and have a love/hate relationship with running and lifting heavy things. I sometimes use humor, as well as the occasional gummi bear, to cope with stress.
I didn’t always know that movement and laughter helped my brain function at its best. There was a time when talk of self-care sounded like a completely foreign concept. I had an amazing capacity for saying “YES!” to everyone and everything, but when it came to myself, it was a HARD “NO” every-single-time.
Through my own recovery work and growth process, I have learned how to take care of my body & mind in order to be a healthy woman and emotionally present mom. Today, I help young women learn how to fiercely love and care for themselves the way they do others through healing past traumas, recovering from addictions, and improving self-esteem.
My Approach
I use scientific, evidence-based therapies along with strong clinical intuition to help you see how past experiences are impacting present patterns like:
Addictions
People Pleasing
Self-Esteem Issues
Boundary Setting
Relationship Choices
Unhealthy Habits
Eating Disordered Behavior
Negative Mindsets
Unrealistic Expectations
Poor Confidence
You’ll learn how these patterns are impacting current worries, low self-esteem, and stress.
You’ll learn what to do to feel better now through mental training and healthy habit formation.
You’ll EVEN spend time in LAUGHTER as you reflect on the humorous sides of mom-dom and womanhood (YES! you are allowed to laugh in therapy!)
You will come to know new confidence as you start saying “no” to others and “yes” to yourself.

My Training
I spent the first 10 years of my career working as an Intensive In-Home Trauma Therapist for a community mental health agency in Cleveland, OH. It was there that I discovered my passion for working with trauma survivors ages 5-18, and realized l was particularly skilled at working with teens and young women. During my tenure as an in-home therapist, I also worked in the Maternal Mental Health program, and PHP program for young girls who had become part of the juvenile justice system. I became certified in Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavior Therapy through the Medical University of South Carolina, and it was during this time I earned my independent licensure. I spent a short time in a supervisory position just prior to the onset of the covid19 pandemic at which time I returned to my roots as a psychotherapist.
In addition to my work in community mental health, I spent 5 years working as a Case Manager Medical Social Worker, as well as an Oncology/Palliative Medicine Social Worker for a major hospital system in Cleveland. I spent time on all hospital units, including the Emergency Department, ICU, Mother/Baby, and NICU. It was during this time I earned a Certified Case Management credential through the Commission for Case Managers. My time as a medical social worker helped cultivate my passion for health and wellness. I realized the critical role mental health plays on quality of life and longevity, solidifying my commitment to providing mental health therapy.
I opened my psychotherapy private practice in January 2022 where I now work exclusively towards helping teen girls, young women, and moms heal past trauma, improve self-esteem, build healthy self-care habits, and achieve healing and recovery. My specialties center on the treatment of trauma, eating disorders, addictions, anxiety disorders, depression/mood disorders, perinatal mood & anxiety disorders, with an eye on healthy self-esteem building at all times. I hold a certification in perinatal mental health (PMH-C) through Postpartum Support International, and am an EMDR Trained Therapist through the Institute for Creative Mindfulness. I am currently accruing consultation hours towards EMDR certification through EMDRIA.ORG. I am a member of the International Association of Eating Disorder Professionals and am completing coursework towards the esteemed designation of Certified Eating Disorders Specialist through the IAEDP Eating Certification program.
Through my own recovery work and growth process, I have learned the necessity of taking care of myself and tending to my own “stuff” in order to be a healthy woman and emotionally present mom.
