TEENS & YOUNG WOMEN IN RECOVERY.  Young women (ages 18-35) & older female teens (ages 16-18) struggling with past trauma, anxiety, chronic stress, eating disorders & addictions.  We will uncover the underlying beliefs fueling people pleasing and perfectionism; learn ways to manage chronic stress and pressure; and develop healthy habits that will lead to greater peace and esteem.

MOMS.    Moms with perinatal mental health needs (postpartum depression, anxiety, birth trauma), single moms in need of support, teen moms, moms in recovery.

I will help you achieve fierce self-love and empowered peace through facilitating the healing of past traumas & painful experiences; teaching mental training strategies to treat symptoms; and helping you develop healthy habits that promote wellness. I draw from several treatment modalities depending on patients’ needs and consider it somewhat of an art to be able to interweave various components of treatment at just the right time, with just the right approach, and in just the right manner.   Therapy is a creative process that is facilitated by drawing on training,  experience, and strong clinical intuition.

CBT THERAPY.  This therapy will help you learn the relationship between what you think, what you feel, and what you do.  You’ll learn how to feel better by changing your thoughts and adopting healthy habits.  Research shows CBT is a highly effective therapy for treating various forms of anxiety, depression, adjustment disorders, eating disorders, and PTSD. CBT relies heavily on the use of HW assignments and application of cognitive coping skills.

EMDR/Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing Therapy. **I am currently in training for EMDR Therapy through the Institute of Creative Mindfulness and EMDRIA.ORG.  This is a trauma therapy and is appropriate if you have deeper healing work you wish to pursue. You’ve tried talk therapies in the past but have not found relief in your symptoms. You’ve had “traumatic” experiences in your life consisting of childhood abuse, domestic violence, sexual assault, interpersonal violence, betrayal trauma, or a traumatic birthing experience. Truthfully, any experience that overwhelms your system and your ability to cope can be traumatic. You may have gaps in your memory that make other forms of therapy ineffective because you simply do not remember the details.  With EMDR Therapy, it is not necessary for you to share all the details of the traumatic event.  Your brain does the work and heals in the way it needs. Through bilateral stimulation of the brain, memories are moved to the parts of your brain you can access, allowing you to process them and heal. You can read more about EMDR Therapy here:   https://www.emdria.org/about-emdr-therapy/

CPT/COGNITIVE PROCESSING THERAPY.  This is another type of trauma therapy and is effective for treating PTSD and complex trauma. It was originally developed for treating adult victims of rape, and then became adopted to treat a wide range of both single occurrence and multiple complex traumas. The goal of CPT is emotional tolerance. Through gradual imaginal exposure to memories of distressful moments, maladaptive thought patterns are identified and reframed in order to promote an accurate, and helpful narrative. This therapy helps treat symptoms of PTSD such as avoidance, hypervigilance, intrusive thoughts, and negative, exaggerated beliefs about oneself and the world. Research has shown CPT to be effective at reducing depression, improving sleep, and improving relationships in people with PTSD or Other Trauma & Stressor-Related Disorders.

DBT THERAPY.   This therapy will help you become more centered, mindful, and present, moment to moment.  It is a form of CBT therapy that focuses on teaching skills to help you stay out of the future and past, so that you can more fully experience right here and now. It helps with reducing negative self-judgements, and increasing acceptance. It is a useful part of treating eating disorders, addictions, and emotional dysregulation found in patients with Borderline Personality Disorder.
